The 2017 Harris-Lake Park volleyball team is looking to have a strong team this year with returning all players except one from the 2016 season. With returning seven varsity letter winners, the team was ranked 13th in Class 1A in preseason polls.

The Harris-Lake Park volleyball team opened up their season at the Clarion-Goldfield Tournament. Playing a total of six games, the girls finished 3-3 placing third in the tournament. They picked up wins against Eagle Grove (21-12, 21-13), North Butler (21-15, 22-20), and CAL, Latimer (21-1, 21-10). The Lady Wolves took their losses from Clarion-Goldfield Dows (18-21, 8-21), South Hamilton (14-21, 22-20, 5-15), and Clear Lake (14-21, 21-16, 15-17).

Senior Blake Gunderson led with 11 aces and 29 digs. Junior Taylor Meyer finished with 41 kills, 5 aces, 9 blocks and 26 digs. Junior Madison Brevik led with 40 assists and had 4 aces, 4 blocks and 24 digs. Junior Brianne Ihnen contributed 7 kills, and sophomore McKenzie Heikens had 10 kills and 21 digs on the day.

The next week the Lady Wolves played two more games improving their record to 5-3. On Tuesday, August 29, the Lady Wolves traveled to West Sioux and picked up the road win in three straight sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-13). On Thursday, August 31, the Lady Wolves hosted MMC-RU picking up the three set win again (25-23, 25-17, 25-18).
